    • Newsletter: email address plus IP address and browser details (for anti-abuse) via our email provider.
    • Joke submissions: name, surname, email, joke content, publication/contact preferences.

    • Device, browser, IP address (anonymized where supported), and usage data through Google Analytics (only after you opt in).
    • Technical events such as likes, joke views, and rate limits tied to a pseudonymous visitor ID.

    Cookies and local storage

    • Essential: UI state cookie `sidebar:state` (7 days), local storage for daily joke limits, submission limits, and visitor IDs (`golfpuns_daily_jokes`, `joke_submissions`, `golfpuns_visitor_id`, `golfpuns_interactions`). These are needed to run site features and combat spam.
    • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies (only if you accept analytics cookies in the on-site banner).

    We do not sell personal information. Service providers act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality and security obligations.

    Data may be processed in Spain, the United States, and other locations where our providers operate. We use contractual safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required to protect transfers.

    • Contact and joke submissions: kept as long as needed to review or respond, then archived or deleted unless law requires longer retention.
    • Newsletter: kept until you unsubscribe or your address permanently bounces; verification and unsubscribe tokens are retained to honor those requests.
    • Essential cookies/local storage: daily joke and submission counters refresh every day; interaction timestamps are pruned after 30 days; the sidebar cookie lasts 7 days; the visitor ID and your cookie choice remain until you clear browser storage.
    • Google Analytics: retained per Google Analytics settings (currently up to 16 months).
